Successful rocket test shows supersonic car project is on track

BBC : Testing has just been completed on an 18-inch hybrid rocket that will be used in the Bloodhound SSC , a supersonic car currently being built. The car is the brainchild of an international educational initiative aimed at spurring children’s interest in science and technology. Powered by a jet engine and the rocket, the Bloodhound will attempt to break the world land-speed record of 763 mph and eventually reach 1000 mph by 2014. Designer Daniel Jubb said the test “went very well; the initial analysis suggests the rocket performed beyond our expectations.”
