China overtakes Japan in R&D spending

The Australian : China has overtaken Japan to become the second-biggest spender onresearch and development behind the US, says a report from theOrganisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.In other news from China, the New York Times’s Dennis Overbye reports on the burgeoning particle physics field in China.
